Blount Small Ship Adventures, formerly American Canadian Caribbean Line (ACCL) has been in service since 1996. This small ships cruise line has built its business on the phrase “go where the big ships cannot.” Blount Small Ship Adventures do just that by taking passengers “away from crowds of tourists and manufactured experiences” and getting them “closer to the adventure.”
According to the official Blount Small Ships Adventures website, the ships’ patented design and innovations allow them to anchor, dock or “bow land” on isolated beaches and shorelines. Retractable pilot houses allow the ships to navigate low bridges in places such as the Eire Canal and with a maximum number of 96 guests, Blount can offer personalized services like no other.
The atmosphere aboard Blount vessels is casual and friendly, making it a favorite among single travelers and couples alike. Blount features three ships including Grande Caribe, Grande Mariner, and Niagara Prince. Grande Caribe and Grande Mariner feature lounges, cabins and dining facilities. Niagara Prince offers the same features as Grande Mariner and Niagara Prince, but she is the only overnight ship able to “transit the Champlain Canal from The Hudson Lake Champlai; and the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal connecting the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River by way of the Illinois and Des Plaines Rivers.
Blount Small Ship Adventures offers several adventures. These include Heritage and History of the Northeast (Maine, New England, Erie Canal, Lake Champlain, New York City & Toronto) Jewels of the Caribbean and Central America (Caicos, Nassau, St. Maarten, Belize, Virgin Islands, Guatemala) Southern Charms (Atlantic Coastal Waterways, Chesapeake Bay, Charleston and Southern Antebellum), and Majestic Mid America & the Great Lakes (Chicago to the Big Easy, Ontario, Lake Michigan). Voyages can last anywhere from 7 nights and 8 days up to 15 nights and 16 days.
