The Caribbean is the most popular travel destination in the travel industry today. More ships sail to the Caribbean today than any other destination in the world. This means there is no shortage of departures just about any day of the year and prices are always affordable. The Caribbean is a popular cruise destination for many reasons. The Caribbean has amazing weather, dozens of exciting activities, spectacular scenery, and some of the most picturesque swimming beaches in the world. Caribbean vacations also offer exciting ports of call, unique shore excursions, and a wide variety of itineraries.

There are four different types of Caribbean vacation travel cruises available:

Eastern Caribbean Cruise

Western Caribbean Cruise

Southern Caribbean Cruise

Deep Southern Caribbean Cruise

Eastern Caribbean cruises usually depart from Florida, but longer cruises may depart from New York. Eastern Caribbean cruises sail to the Bahamas, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, Tortola, San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Western Caribbean cruises may depart from Florida, Texas, or New Orleans and they sail to the Bahamas, Key West, Cozumel, Calica/Playa del Carmen, Costa Maya, Belize, Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Panama.

Southern Caribbean cruises may depart from Barbados, San Juan Puerto Rico or Ft. Lauderdale. Depending on the departure port, ports of call typically include St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antigua, Dominica, Martinique, San Juan, and Aruba. St. Thomas is probably the most popular port of call for Caribbean cruises.

The most exotic type of cruise among the Caribbean cruises is the Deep Southern Caribbean cruise. Many Deep Southern Caribbean Cruises are port intensive, offering plenty of opportunities to explore or relax on the islands. Antigua, Barbados, Grenada, St. Maarten, Tortola, St. Kitts, Dominica and St. Lucia may be considered Southern and Deep Southern ports of call. Other Deep Southern Ports of call include Ocho Rios, Cartagena, Colon, San Blas, Puerto Limon, Costa Maya, and Cayo Levantado, to name a few. Deep Southern Caribbean cruises are typically longer as well.

Depending on the type of cruise you choose, Caribbean shore excursions will have some similarities such as swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and sunbathing, but there are many Caribbean shore excursions are distinctly different. Tubing on the Layou River in Dominica, Stingray City at Grand Cayman Island, Hiking the El Junque Rain Forest in Puerto Rico, High Tea at Sunbury Plantation on Barbados, Walking Up Dunn’s River Falls in Jamaica, and America’s Cup Yacht Racing on St. Maarten are just a few unique favorites among the many cruise excursion offerings.

Once you have decided which Caribbean vacation is for you, length of cruise (anywhere from 3 days up to 15 days or more), and the types of things you would like to do on your cruise, it’s time to select a cruise line. Choose any of the following cruise lines to book your Caribbean Cruise. Please click here for a directory of all cruise line websites. You can also contact your local cruise travel agent.
Mini-cruises may stand alone or they might be part of a larger itinerary. When part of a larger itinerary, mini-cruises may include exotic river cruises, small yacht cruises, or small expedition cruises that travel where larger ships cannot.

A mini-cruise is a “short cruise” that typically lasts anywhere from one to four nights. Some mini-cruises may even last for one full day from early a.m. to late p.m. These cruises may not have a specific destination, but they will likely sail up and down the coast or around a harbor in order to tour a variety of points of interest.

Mini-cruises may stand alone or they might be part of a larger itinerary. When part of a larger itinerary, mini-cruises may include exotic river cruises, small yacht cruises, or small expedition cruises that travel where larger ships cannot. Mini cruises offer the same variety of entertainment, dining options and leisure facilities that are found on longer sailings, but they are designed to allow passengers to get the most out of their time onboard.

Some mini-cruises may take place during the week, but many take place on weekends. These types of cruises are packaged as “weekend getaways.” Popular destinations for weekend cruises include The Bahamas, The Western Caribbean, The Pacific Northwest, and Baja Mexico. Pacific Northwest mini-cruises typically last for three nights and they leave from Seattle. Bahamas cruises leave from Miami for three nights, and Western Caribbean cruises leave from Miami for four nights. Baja Mexico cruises leave from Los Angeles for three nights.

These are not the only mini-cruises available. Most cruise lines offer short cruises, but some of the most popular mini-cruises are offered through:

-Royal Caribbean
-Disney Cruise Line
-Carnival Cruise Line
-Celebrity Cruises

Prices for mini-cruises are “mini” too. Thanks to the shorter duration of the cruises, the are perfect for cruisers that are short on time and money. Depending on the type of accommodations, a mini-cruise may cost as little as $150 per person for an interior suite, up to $500 for a deluxe suite. You can also save money on mini-cruises by booking through a discount booking search engine such as Kayak or CheapTickets.com. The links to the most popular discount booking search engines are provided below.

Kayak.com
Expedia.com
Orbitz.com
Travelocity.com
CheapTickets.com
VacationsToGo.com
Cruise411.com
Cruise.com

So why take a mini-cruise? Mini-cruises are a perfect way to test the waters (no pun intended). If it’s your first cruise, a mini-cruise will let you know if you will get seasick, if you are ok with crowds, if you will like the cruise experience overall, the food, entertainment, etc. Next, as stated earlier, mini-cruises are less expensive than longer cruises. Mini-cruises also allow you to visit a variety of locations in a short amount of time without having to deal with flying or staying overnight in multiple locations. And finally, if you are short on time and you only have a few days to unwind, a mini-cruise offers just enough time to accomplish your goals.

To book a mini-cruise, visit any of the websites listed in this article or use the Ships and Cruises Directory to locate dozens of different cruise lines around the world.

Regent Cruise Lines, also “Regent Severn Seas,” is an award winning luxury cruise line. Regent Cruise Lines was named The World’s Best Small Cruise Line by the readers of Travel + Leisure Magazine and in 2003, it was awarded the same title by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler. Regent Cruise Lines’ six-star fleet features some of the most luxurious vessels in the cruise industry. The six-star fleet includes: Seven Seas Voyager, Seven Seas Mariner, Seven Seas Navigator, Paul Gauguin, and Explorer II.

The 700-guest Seven Seas Voyager is the world’s second all-suite, all-balcony ship featuring four main dining venues. Seven Seas Voyager is the second ship to feature a restaurant operated by Le Cordon Bleu of Paris. Considered one of the most spacious Regent vessels, Seven Seas Voyager features some of the highest space and service ratios at sea, and the suites are considered the largest “lead-in” suites in the industry.

So, now you know all about the world’s second all-suite, all-balcony ship, but what about the first? Seven Seas Mariner is the world’s first all-suite, all-balcony ship and the first to offer dining by Le Cordon Bleu® of Paris. Seven Seas Mariner features four single, open-seating restaurants and like her sister, Seven Seas Voyager, Mariner accommodates 700 guests. Yet another spacious vessel, Seven Seas Mariner is one of the most spacious cruise ships afloat with a staff to guest ratio of 1 to 1.6. This means, personalized service fit for a queen.

Seven Seas Navigator, one of Regent Cruise Lines most luxurious and exclusive vessels, accommodates 490 guests and has some of the highest space and service ratios at sea. Other features include all-suite, all -oceanview accommodations with marble baths and signature cuisine.

The Paul Gauguin, specifically designed for sailing French Polynesia year-round, features spacious suites and staterooms (more than 50% with private balconies), a watersports marina, three open-seating dining venues and a spa. One of the major attractions aboard the Paul Gauguin is the ship’s troupe of Gauguines – part cruise staff, part entertainers and part storytellers.

One of the least formal ships in Regent’s fleet is the Explorer II. Specifically designed for cruising through Antarctica’s icy waters, Explorer II is an exploration ship that will accept a maximum of 198 guests on Antarctica voyages, although the ship can accommodate 300. The ship is still considered upscale, but it falls on the “comfortable upscale” side of the spectrum. Think shiny wood, attractive artwork, and the feel of a country house.

Regent Cruise Lines features a wide variety of exotic and historic destinations including: Alaska, Grand Asia/Pacific, Scandinavia & Russia, Bermuda, Caribbean/Mexico, Europe & Mediterranean, Africa & India, Tahiti & South Pacific, Antarctica, South America and Panama Canal.

Norwegian cruise ships are considered some of the most luxurious cruise ships in the industry today. The Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) fleet includes: Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Pearl, Norwegian Jade, Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Star, Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Dream, Norwegian Majesty, and Norwegian Sun as well as Pride of America, Pride of Hawaii, and Pride of Aloha. The line plans to introduce the new “F3 Class” soon, so keep checking the official Norwegian Cruise Line website for details.

Norwegian cruise ships are famous for the variety (and quantity) of bars, restaurants, and lounges on board, as well as large and luxurious staterooms, and varied on-board activities. A good example is Norwegian Gem. This sister ship to Norwegian Pearl features: 12 restaurants (and 24-hour room service), 11 bars and lounges, a four-lane, mood-lit bowling alley, exclusive courtyard villas and garden villas, and inter-connecting staterooms (excellent for families or groups). Besides mood-lit bowling, other on-board activities include: bungee trampoline, yoga, kick-boxing, swimming, spinning, shopping, relaxing at the spa, and jogging, to name a few. Norwegian Gem’s itineraries range from the Bahamas and Florida, to the Caribbean and Europe. This ship also offers one and two-day cruises around New York City! Norwegian cruise ships travel to Alaska, Bermuda, Bahamas and Florida, the Caribbean, Canada & New England, Hawaii, Mexican Riviera, Pacific Coastal, the Panama Canal, and South America.

With so many bars and lounges on board, one might expect the nightlife to be lively aboard NCL’s ships – and you guessed right! It’s not just about the bars and lounges here though, Norwegian Cruise Lines happens to house the best casinos at sea in the industry. In fact, Norwegian is the only cruise line with certified slots. How about that?

When you’re not at the spa, playing the slots, or shopping, you may find yourself on one of NCL’s many exciting shore excursions in a number of popular destinations. If you decide to go on an excursion, here’s what you can expect: biking, diving, golfing, hiking, snorkeling, surfing, exploring, and partying!

About Norwegian Cruise Line and Freestyle Cruising

Norwegian Cruise Line is one of the world’s top “premier” cruise lines. But what sets Norwegian Cruise Line apart from the rest is its laid-back atmosphere, which may be absent from most premier cruise lines, and its low prices. In fact, Norwegian Cruise Line prices are lower than just about every premier or luxury cruise line in service today.

This innovative cruise line offers freestyle cruising coupled with luxury amenities for those looking for a little something extra. “Freestyle Cruising” means that passengers have the freedom to choose when to dine, when to dress-up or down, when relax or when to party, and even when to disembark. In a nutshell, what you do and when you do it is 100% up to you.

With Freestyle Cruising, there are no schedules and even the accommodations are flexible. This means, passengers will have their pick of an excellent assortment of accommodation types including: 3-bedroom rooftop Garden Villas, inside staterooms, and large family suites. Now that you know the ins and outs Norwegian Cruise Lines Freestyle Cruising style, its time to learn about prices and booking.

Norwegian Cruise Line Prices and Booking

The costs for Norwegian cruises depend on a wide variety of factors including, but not limited to accommodations, destinations, season, length of trip, ship, booking time and method, etc. To book a Norwegian Cruise Line vacation, visit the NCL website (www.ncl.com) or contact Norwegian Cruise Line directly by calling 1-866-234-0292.

Disney Cruise Lines is one of the top cruise lines in the industry today. Disney Cruise Lines features frequent sailings to a wide variety of destinations such as the Caribbean, Europe, and the Bahamas, so rates are typically low compared to other cruise lines. While Disney cruise rates are low to begin with, there are ways to score even better Disney cruise deals, especially if you know where to look and when to book.

If you want to score the absolute lowest Disney cruise deals, there are a few things to keep in mind. Disney Cruise Lines’ regular pricing depends on a wide variety of factors ranging from the time of year and itinerary to accommodations and number of guests. Disney Cruise Lines offers a wide variety of cruises to choose from for the passenger seeking a few days at sea or the family interested in taking an extended vacation.

The time of year may factor greatly in the price for any length of cruise. Keep in mind that the busiest time of the year to take a Disney cruise is of course, summer. During the summer months expect to pay much more but during spring and fall, expect to find killer deals on a Disney cruise either directly through the cruise line or any popular booking search engine such as orbitz.com, expedia.com, travelocity.com or hotwire.com.

Another thing to keep in mind: Disney cruise prices are typically based on 2 adults in a shared room. If passengers are traveling with a child, they will still pay the same price for two adults. After the initial two-adult price, 3rd and 4th passengers are offered a lower rate. If passengers over the initial two are under 13, the rate may range from $229 – $429 for a 3-day cruise, $329-$529 for a 4-day cruise and $349 – $749 for a 7-day cruise. This price includes land/sea vacations and varies greatly based on season. Larger groups receive a number of excellent discounts, credits, and deals on Disney cruises to all destinations – the more the merrier!

If you’re considering booking a Disney cruise, it’s best to book as far in advance as possible. Several months in advance is your best bet because the farther in advance you book, the better your chances are to lock in significant savings or take advantage of great deals and discounts. However, you can also score the best deals on Disney cruises if you book last minute.

Cruise lines are serious about booking every last stateroom, so if accommodations are still available, say, a month or so before the ship sets sail, you could save up to 75 percent off the regular price of the cruise – and in some cases, even more. If you’re a senior, typically defined as persons 55 and older, you are virtually guaranteed the best deals on Disney cruises. All cruise lines offer significant discounts and savings for seniors – all you need is proof of age and you’re all set! If you’re ready to book your discount Disney cruise visit Disney Cruise Lines website, any of the booking search engines listed above, or contact your local cruise travel agent who will have access to all of the best deals on Disney cruises on the market today. Good luck!

Holland Cruise Lines is a luxury cruise line that covers all seven continents and offers nearly 500 cruises from more than 25 home ports. Because it sails to so many places, Holland Cruise Lines has the means to offer itineraries ranging from two days up to a whopping 108 days. Its no wonder Holland Cruise Lines is the most well-respected and highly recognized name in luxury cruising today.

Holland Cruise Lines destinations include: Alaska, Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, New England, the Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii, the Pacific Northwest, the Panama Canal, and South America. Some of Holland Cruise Lines most popular cruises include: Australia/New Zealand, Asia sailings, the world cruise, the Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico, and Europe. Holland Cruise Line also offers winter sailings to the Caribbean from its homeport in New York City. Winter sailings typically take place aboard Holland’s 1,918-passenger ms Noordam (introduced in early 2006).

Including the ms Noordaam, Holland Cruise Lines, also Holland America Cruise Lines or “HAL,” features a five-star fleet of 14 stunning ships ranging from the small and intimate to the large and luxurious. Holland America Line’s famous fleet includes: ms Amsterdam, ms Eurodam (to be delivered in summer 2008), ms Maasdam, ms Oosterdam, ms Prinsendam, ms Rotterdam, ms Ryndam, ms Statendam, ms Veendam, ms Volendam, ms Westerdam, ms Zaandam, and ms Zuiderdam.

Excursions run the gamut from sightseeing and flightseeing to adventure tours, snorkeling, shopping trips, glacier tours, and more. Because there are so many ports of call for each destination and hundreds of land excursions, it would be tough to list them all here. But a good example of HAL’s exciting offerings is the Alaska cruise. Ports of call include: College Fjord, Glacier Bay, Haines, Alaska, Hubbard Glacier, Juneau, Alaska, Ketchikan, Alaska, San Diego, California, San Francisco, California, Seattle, Washington, Seward (Anchorage) Alaska, Sitka, Alaska, Skagway, Alaska, Tracy Arm, Alaska, Vancouver, B.C., and Victoria, B.C.

Land tour excursions cover places such as: Alyeska, Anchorage, Fairbanks, Whitehorse, Yukon, Denali, Homer, and Dawson City, to name a few. Passengers will tour a plethora of parks and highlights such as: Gates of the Arctic National Park, Kenai Fjords National Park, Kluane National Park, Nome and Kotzebue, Alaska, Prudhoe Bay, and Alaska Tombstone Territory Park.

All Holland Cruise Lines excursions are on a first-come, first-served basis. Many tours have very limited availability, so advanced booking is highly recommended to avoid any disappointment. Requests for excursions that are fully booked are placed on a waiting list.

Prices for Holland cruises vary greatly depending on a variety of factors such as season, destination, vessel, accommodations, length of cruise, departure port, excursions, number of passengers in your party and more. Accommodations play an important part in pricing, so it is important to keep in mind that there plenty of accommodation types to choose from. The following list ranges from the most expensive room type to the least expensive.

·Penthouse Verandah Suites
·Deluxe Verandah Suites
·Superior Verandah Suites
·Verandah Staterooms
·Large Outside Staterooms
·Large Inside Staterooms
·Large Standard Staterooms

While some suites are more spacious and luxurious than others, all staterooms offer different levels of luxury and include: fine linens, Egyptian cotton towels and bathrobes, massage showerheads, and flat-screen televisions.

To book a Holland Cruise Lines vacation, contact the cruise line directly at 1-800-426-0327 or you can book with a Holland Cruise Lines Travel Professional online at www.hollandamerica.com.

Some of the top luxury cruise lines in the cruise industry today include: Seabourn Cruises, Sea Dream Yacht Club, Silversea Cruises, Cunard Line, Crystal Cruises, and Radisson Seven Seas. The vast majority of luxury ships will accommodate anywhere from 200-300 passengers, 110 for Sea Dream Yacht Club.

About Luxury Cruises

A luxury cruise is like no other cruise in the world. Some of the immediate differences you will notice on luxury cruises is the types of passengers on a luxury cruise are different than on a regular cruise; the destinations and ports of call are typically exotic or remote; the excursions lean towards the elaborate and expensive; and even the ships are different. You won’t feel like you’re just a face in the crowd. On a luxury cruise you will feel like the staff is there to cater to you and only you.

While this highly desirable area of cruise travel is distinctly different from other areas of cruise travel, a few of the amenities on luxury cruise lines are similar to others. Most luxury cruise lines will accommodate smaller numbers of passengers, which makes it easier to offer personalized service, privacy, and a more intimate environment. However, there are several lines that cater to bigger crowds of luxury seekers, but they are far and few between. Crystal Cruises, for example, features larger ships for its luxury cruises, but they still manage to offer stellar service to satisfied (repeat) customers. Cunard Cruise Line is another example of the large ship/luxury cruise. They have larger crowds, but the luxury service and feel doesn’t suffer.

Here’s what you can expect on a luxury cruise:

·Exotic Destinations and Unique Ports of Call such as Africa, Asia, New Zealand, Northern Europe, and South America with places like Athens, Copenhagen, Dubai, Lisbon, Tahiti, and Mumbai
·Elaborate Spa Services
·Butler Service
·World Class Cuisine Served in a Formal Setting
·Formal Nights
·Over the Top Excursions
·Designer and Name Brand Products in your Suite
·Sophisticated Entertainment
·Lots of Leisure Time — Meaning No Schedules
·Guest Lectures
·Privacy
·All-Inclusive or Included-Amenities such as Alcohol, Excursions, etc.

What you won’t find on luxury cruise lines are large crowds, large families with kids, planned or scheduled “family reunion” type activities, off-the-wall entertainment, bustling casinos, noisy nightclubs and discos, common ports of call, and tasteless comedy acts.

If you would like to book a cruise on a luxury cruise line today, contact the cruise line directly or contact a cruise travel specialist. If you would love to book a luxury cruise, but you can’t afford one, there are several options available to you. Princess Cruises and Holland America Line both have “luxury cruise” offerings, but prices are far less than a regular luxury cruise. Contact Princess Cruises or Holland America directly for details.

Cruisemates.com offers short reviews and ratings. The two types of ratings include: star ratings and value ratings. Star ratings are based on one question — “how good is this ship?” One star is the worst, five stars is the best. Cruisemates.com takes everything from age and accommodations to food, service, and entertainment into account when rating the worlds cruise ships. Value ratings or “thumbs up” ratings are all about the “Bang for your Buck.” Five thumbs up means the ship is an excellent value while one thumb up means you won’t find much of anything that resembles a value here.

The Caribbean is one of the most popular travel destinations on the market today whether you’re sailing or flying. But when it comes to Caribbean vacation travel cruises, more ships sail to the Caribbean today than any other destination on the map. This means there is no shortage of departures on the menu and prices are always affordable.

The Caribbean is a popular cruise destination for many reasons. The Caribbean has excellent weather, dozens of exciting activities, spectacular scenery, and some of the most spectacular swimming beaches in the world. A Caribbean vacation travel cruise also offers several different types of cruises, exciting ports of call, unique shore excursions, and a wide variety of itineraries. There are four different types of Caribbean vacation travel cruises available: Eastern Caribbean Cruise, Western Caribbean Cruise, Southern Caribbean Cruise, and Deep Southern Caribbean Cruise.

Eastern Caribbean cruises will typically leave from Florida (longer cruises may leave from New York) with stops in places like the Bahamas, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, Tortola, San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Western Caribbean cruises may leave from Florida, Texas, or New Orleans and may stop in the Bahamas, Key West, Cozumel, Calica/Playa del Carmen, Costa Maya, Belize, Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Panama. Southern Caribbean cruises may depart from Barbados, San Juan Puerto Rico or Ft. Lauderdale. Depending on where you depart from, ports of call typically include: St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antigua, Dominica, Martinique, San Juan, and Aruba. St. Thomas is probably the most popular port of call out of all Caribbean cruises.

Other Deep Southern Ports of call include: Ocho Rios, Cartagena, Colon, San Blas, Puerto Limon, Costa Maya, and Cayo Levantado, to name a few.

Once you have decided which Caribbean vacation travel cruise is for you, the length of time you would like to cruise (anywhere from 3 days up to 15 days or more) and the types of things you would like to do on your cruise, it’s time to select a cruise line.
