Kristina Brahe is known to have crossed the Atlantic Ocean once during the war under the flag of USA. The vessel was called HMS Kilchernan when she served under the Union Jack as a submarine destroyer at the western coast of Africa and the Gibraltar area.

In 1948 the ship was sold to Norway and rebuilt to become a passenger ferry. Named Sunnhordland, the vessel operated as a mail steamer between Bergen and Stavanger up to the year 1973. At that time the vessel’s capacity was 600 passengers and 13 cars.

The ship was sold to Finland in 1971 and was named Kristina Brahe after Ristiina, the vessel’s that time home port. The ship was turned into a cruise vessel by building more cabins and restaurant facilities.

Kristina Brahe’s maiden voyage took place on 15th May, 1975. At first the ship cruised mainly on Lake Saimaa making two- to five-day cruises. In the following years the cruising area was expanded, first to Vyborg and to the Gulf of Finland. In 1982 Kristina Brahe made the first cruise across the Gulf of Finland from Helsinki to Tallinn and in the next year to Leningrad, now known as St. Petersburg.

In 1985 Rannikkolinjat Ltd. bought the shipping company who owned Kristina Brahe and Kotka became the vessel’s new home port. More cabins were built and the restaurant improved. At the same time more cruises were made abroad.

Today, Kristina Brahe cruises “The Czars Route,” which takes her to Lake Saimaa, the Saimaa Canal, Gulf of Finland, and the Archipelago Sea.

M/S Kristina Regina was a traditional passenger ship originally built in Oskarsham in 1960. The ship received upgrades in 2001 including refurbished cabins and public spaces, the addition of a health center and laundry, and a new computer system. Guests had the option to relax in the comforts of the panorama café , the ships “living room” or take in the sights from a restaurant or scenic deck. M/S Kristina Regina’s last cruise was August 23, 2010. she is now used as a museum, hotel, and restaurant ship in Turku.

Barcelona Spain cruises are offered through luxury, mid-priced, and budget-friendly cruise lines. Luxury cruise lines that offer Barcelona Spain cruises include Oceania Cruises, Cunard Cruise Line, Crystal Cruises, Silversea, Cruises, Regent Seven Seas, MSC, Yachts of Seabourn, and Costa Cruises, to name a few. Mid-priced cruise lines with Spain itineraries include Royal Caribbean, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, and Norwegian Cruise Line. Budget-friendly cruise lines such as Carnival Cruises and Disney offer itineraries featuring stops in Spain.

The typical western Mediterranean cruises features stops in Spain, France, Italy, Tunisia, and Sicily. The ports of call vary greatly, but Barcelona is one of the top stops in Spain. In Barcelona, there are hundreds of sights to see, but travel professionals and cruise critics say a Barcelona highlights tour that features the Gothic Quarter, Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia Church, and various urban vistas is a must for first-timers.

According to Cruisecritics.com, Western Mediterranean cruises are no longer limited to spring, summer and fall. Cruise lines such as Costa and MSC currently offer year-round voyages in the region. Barcelona and Marseilles still remain on many itineraries, “but some ships move further south, to Morocco and the Canary Islands, during the cooler months,” according to cruise critics.

If you are interested in saving money, try booking in early spring or late fall. During this time, rates are competitive and crowds are thin. If you are sailing with a family, try mid-June to mid-August. The prices will be higher during this time, but activities for kids are plentiful during these times.

Looking for hot cruise deals? Of course you are! Fortunately for you and all of your fellow cruisers, cruise lines are currently in fierce competition for consumer bucks, so hot cruise deals are plentiful on just about every major cruise line in service today. While hot cruise deals may be easy to find, if you are well informed about the best places to look, there are some hot cruise deals that are actually cheaper than others. The type of hot cruise deal will vary depending on a number of factors such as when you book to how you book.

Cruise lines will do anything to book their cruises way in advance, so you may enjoy hot cruise deals such as special incentives, credits, and cash back just for booking far in advance. If you’re one to procrastinate, you too may be rewarded! If a cruise isn’t booked several weeks or so before the cruise departure date, prices are slashed. If you book last minute, you may enjoy savings up to 75 percent!

Other ways to enjoy hot cruise deals include: booking off-season, booking with a group, taking advantage of package deals, booking online, and booking with popular cruise lines. Some of the world’s most popular cruise lines include: Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Seabourn Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas, SilverSea Cruises, and Windstar Cruises.

If you want to book off-season, you’ll find the most hot cruise deals in year round destinations. For example, slow or “shoulder” seasons for say Alaska, may differ from the Mexican Riviera. Here is a list of destinations and their slow seasons: Alaska, May and September; Bermuda, April-May and September-October; Canada/New England, July-August; the Caribbean, late April-May, September-early January; Hawaii, late August, late November, and February; Mexican Riviera, early January and May, October-November; Eastern and Western Mediterranean, March-April and September-November. Expect plenty of perks during these times as well.

Besides hot cruise deals for groups and families, just about every cruise line features special rates for seniors. The only catch is, to lock in special senior rates you can’t book online. You must call a cruise travel specialist or book directly with the cruise line. Keep in mind that a senior is typically defined as a person who is 55 or older and proof of age is required.

For more hot cruise deals visit any of the following popular discount booking search engines’ websites to check out some of the best hot cruise deals, to shop and compare, and you can even book your cruise right online!
