It’s no secret that Tom Cruise has a learning disability called Dyslexia. Dyslexia affects 20% of the American population and millions of women, men, and children around the world. It is believed that people with this learning disability, such as Tom Cruise, have different levels of brain activity and connections in the language area than people without the disorder. This leads to learning problems, specifically when it comes to reading and spelling.

Although Dyslexia can be overwhelming for some, Tom Cruise did not let this learning disability stop him. The actor states that he was diagnosed as dyslexic at age seven, but he managed to hide his learning disability from the other children at school. Cruise described himself as “a functional illiterate,” during his earlier years, through high school, and through his first several films. Tom Cruise managed to make it through auditions in a very unique way. Cruise says, “I’d get the director and producer to talk about the characters and the film. I’d glean information from them and I’d use that… I got pretty good at ad-libbing.”

Well, Tom Cruise’s ad-libbing paid off. Today, Cruise is considered one of the top 100 movie stars of all times with movies grossing $2.6 billion. Only Tom Hanks has done better. Continue reading to find out more about Tom Cruise’s top movies, salaries, and his love life.

According to The Internet Movie Database (IMDb.com), Tom Cruise is 5 feet 7 inches tall. Netglimse.com lists Tom Cruise's weight at 170 pounds.

According to The Internet Movie Database (IMDb.com), Tom Cruise is 5 feet 7 inches tall. Netglimse.com lists Tom Cruise’s weight at 170 pounds. A few wild rumors claim that the actor is no more than 5 feet 5 inches tall and others report that Tom Cruise is roughly 5 feet 8 inches tall. So just how tall is Tom Cruise? How much does he weigh? And more importantly, why do so many people care about Tom Cruise’s height and weight?

Americans are obsessed with celebrities, so there will always be some sort of hype about some of the most ridiculous things we can think of. What’s even worse is that other celebrities continue to fuel the fire surrounding Tom Cruise’s height and weight. They claim that Tom Cruise is “short” or “diminutive”; Nicole Kidman has made remarks claiming that she is several inches taller than him, and she was quoted as saying (after the break-up) that she “can wear heels again.”

Scottish comedian Billy Connolly has stated that “Tom was at least 5ft 10′.” Richard Harris said “Tom Cruise is a midget and he has eight bodyguards, all 6ft 10in, which makes him even more diminutive. It’s an absolute joke. Actors are unimportant.” This was quoted in the Mirror Newspaper in 2001. Others claim that Cruise wears elevator shoes and works with shorter actresses so that he appears taller. For the record, the man himself was quoted as saying, “I have always been pretty much the same weight, 147 pounds at 5 feet 9 inches.” That was in 1988. In addition, Tom Cruise’s biggest fan website Tom Cruise Fan reports that the actor is 5′ 8″ tall.

With all of the hype and gossip surrounding Tom Cruise’s height and weight, the truth is — unless you know Tom Cruise personally or you have taken his measurements yourself, you will never (ever) know exactly how tall he is or his exact weight. Tom Cruise just doesn’t care what people think either. The actor has said, “because I grew up in so many different places, I was used to rumors [about me]. You know, I didn’t have the right shoes, I didn’t have the right clothes. I even had the wrong accent. He has also stated that, “I don’t really keep counsel with others. I’m the kind of person who will think about something, and if I know it’s right I’m not going to ask anybody. I don’t go, ‘Boy, what do you think about this?’ I’ve made every decision for myself – in my career, in my life.”

Well, the actor’s philosophy seems to be working. Today, Tom Cruise is one of the top 100 stars of all times with a career that is nothing short of spectacular. During the course of his career, Tom Cruise has produced roughly 28 top films, earned several Golden Globe Awards, several Oscar Nominations, and an average domestic box office gross of $99.9 million per film. And that’s not all:

·The total gross of Tom Cruise’s movies to date is $2.6 billion. Only Tom Hanks has done better.
·In June 2006 Cruise took the No.1 spot on Forbes magazine’s annual list of the world’s 100 most powerful stars.
·In the last 10 years all but one of Tom Cruise’s movies grossed more than $200 million worldwide.
·Tom Cruise’s top-grossing movie was War of the Worlds (2005), which earned $590 million around the around the globe.

Tom Cruise is also considered a hero. He came to the rescue of people on three different occasions in 1996; he took a woman injured in a car accident to the hospital and paid her bill, saved several boys from being crushed in a crowd, and he even saved people from a fire while yachting. Tom Cruise also has two adopted children with Nicole Kidman: Isabella Cruise (born in 1993) and Connor Cruise (born in 1995). He is currently married to actress Katie Holmes who gave birth to their first child, Suri Cruise, on April 18, 2006.

The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) lists Tom Cruise’s height as 5’ 7. A few wild rumors claim that the actor is no more than 5’ 5 tall and others report that Tom Cruise is roughly 5’ 8 tall. So just how tall is Tom Cruise? And more importantly, why all the hype about his height?

Americans are obsessed with celebrities, so there will always be some sort of hype about some of the most ridiculous things we can think of. What’s even worse is that other celebrities continue to fuel the fire surrounding Tom Cruise’s height. They claim that Tom Cruise is “short or “diminutive; Nicole Kidman has made remarks claiming that she is several inches taller than him, and she was quoted as saying (after the break-up) that she “can wear heels again.

Scottish comedian Billy Connolly, has stated that “Tom was at least 5ft 10′.â€? Richard Harris said “Tom Cruise is a midget and he has eight bodyguards, all 6ft 10in, which makes him even more diminutive. It’s an absolute joke. Actors are unimportant.â€? This was quoted in the Mirror Newspaper in 2001. Others claim that Cruise wears elevator shoes and works with shorter actresses so that he appears taller. For the record, the man himself was quoted as saying, “I have always been pretty much the same weight, 147 pounds at 5 feet 9 inches.â€? That was in 1988. In addition, Tom Cruise’s biggest fan website Tom Cruise Fan reports that the actor is 5’ 8â€? tall.

With all of the hype and gossip surrounding Tom Cruise’s height, the truth is — unless you know Tom Cruise personally or you have taken his measurements yourself, you will never (ever) know exactly how tall he is. I don’t go, “Boy, what do you think about this?” I’ve made every decision for myself – in my career, in my life.â€?

Well, the actor’s philosophy seems to be working. Today, Tom Cruise is one of the top 100 stars of all times with a career that is nothing short of spectacular. During the course of his career, Tom Cruise has produced roughly 28 top films, earned several Golden Globe Awards, several Oscar Nominations, and an average domestic box office gross of $99.9 million per film. And that’s not all:

·	The total gross of Tom Cruise’s movies to date is $2.6 billion. Only Tom Hanks has done better.
·	In June 2006 Cruise took the No.1 spot on Forbes magazine’s annual list of the world’s 100 most powerful stars.
·	In the last 10 years all but one of Tom Cruise’s movies grossed more than $200 million worldwide.
·	Tom Cruise’s top-grossing movie was War of the Worlds (2005), which earned $590 million around the around the globe.

Dyslexia affects millions of women, men, and children around the world and roughly 20% of the American population. It is believed that people with dyslexia, such as Tom Cruise, have different levels of brain activity and connections in the language area than people without the disorder. This leads to learning problems, specifically with reading and spelling.

Although this disorder can be overwhelming for some, Tom Cruise did not let dyslexia stop him. The actor states that he was diagnosed as dyslexic at seven, but he managed to hide his learning disability from the other children at school. The actor described himself as “a functional illiterate,” during his earlier years, through high school, and through his first several films.

Today, Tom Cruise is considered one of the top 100 movie stars of all times with movies grossing $2.6 billion. Only Tom Hanks has done better. Continue reading to find out more about Tom Cruise’s top movies, salaries, and his love life.

Tom Cruise was born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV in Syracuse, New York, to an electrical engineer and a special education teacher on July 3, 1962. Cruise and his family bounced around from Louisville, KY, Winnetka, IL, Ottawa, Ontario, Cincinnati Ohio, and Glen Ridge, NJ before heading out to New York in 1980. While working as a busboy, Cruise was relentless in his pursuit acting gigs. So relentless, that within a year, he found himself in Los Angeles where he landed a small role in the movie Endless Love starring Brooke Shields (1981). Tom Cruise played “Billy in the 1981 film, and although the part was small, playing Billy quickly led to a bigger role in Taps starring Sean Penn and Timothy Hutton.

Within two years of completing Endless Love and Taps, Tom Cruise completed three more films in 1983 including: The Outsiders, with Rob Lowe, Matt Dillon, and Patrick Swayze; Losin’ It with Shelly Long (1983); the cult classic Risky Business with Rebecca De Mornay with whom Cruise had a two-year relationship, and All the Right Moves.

What followed was a career that continued (and continues) at full speed, producing roughly 28 top films, several Golden Globe Awards, several Oscar Nominations, and an average domestic box office gross of $99.9 million per film. Today, Tom Cruise is considered one of the top 100 movie stars of all times. The actor, who was married to Mimi Rogers from 1987-1990 and to Nicole Kidman from 1990-2001, is currently married to actress Katie Holmes who gave birth to their first child, Suri Cruise, on April 18, 2006. Tom Cruise also has two adopted children with Nicole Kidman: Isabella Cruise (born in 1993) and Connor Cruise (born in 1995).

Tom cruise has dozens of famous videos of course, but the most famous Tom Cruise video in the tabloids has to be what some people have dubbed the “Bizarre Tom Cruise Scientology Video.” This Tom Cruise video on Scientology should still be available for viewing at Gawker.com. Gawker.com representatives have repeatedly stated that the site has no intention of removing the video that has been removed from other sites such as YouTube.com, Defamer.com, and Radar.com. Other Tom Cruise Scientology videos such as indoctrination videos were previously posted on sites such as Google Video and also on Gawker.com, but they were removed as well by whoever originally posted them.

The Tom Cruise video on Scientology, hosted by Gawker.com (but originally posted on YouTube.com) is roughly 9 ½ minutes long. During the lengthy video, Tom Cruise discusses the basics of Scientology as well as his strong views on the religion and life as the theme song from Mission Impossible plays in the background. Here are just a few quotes from the video:

“We are the authorities on getting people off drugs

“We are the authorities on the mind

“We are the authorities on improving conditions

“We can rehabilitate criminals

“I don’t care if someone thinks it’s hard or easy . . . you’re either helping, contributing everything you can or you’re not

“I’m carrying my load .. and as much as I’m carrying, I still feel like I have to do more, alright .. it’s still a thing of let’s go . . .

“Being a Scientologist . . . when you drive past an accident, it’s not like anyone else . . . as you drive past, you know you have to do something about it because you know you are the only one that can really help

“Dammit .. there’s nothing better than going out there and fighting the fight and suddenly you see poofff … things are better

Tom Cruise made his acting debut playing a character named “Billy in the 1981 film Endless Love starring Brooke Shields. Although the part was small, playing Billy led to a string of starring roles that Cruise still seems to be racking up today.

It’s no secret that Tom Cruise is a devout Scientologist. But unlike many members of other faiths, Tom Cruise seems to “live Scientology to an extent that raises eyebrows around the world. According to Andrew Morton, author of Tom Cruise: The Unauthorized Biography, Scientology has all but taken over Tom Cruise’s life “with its officials allegedly selecting many of the staff at Cruise’s Hollywood mansion.

Critics claim that Scientology is nothing more than a cult, but Tom Cruise says, “It is privilege to call yourself a Scientologist and it is something that you have to earn and a [Scientologist] “has the ability to create new and better realities and improve conditions.

Tom Cruise became interested in Scientology in 1986 when his then wife, Mimi Rogers (a Scientologist) gave him some literature on the religion. Today, Tom Cruise is the second most powerful member of the religion (according to Morton’s book), having been appointed second in command of the Church of Scientology by its leader David Miscavige. The book also claims that Tom Cruise is consulted on “every aspect of planning and policy.

Tom Cruise has been extremely outspoken about the Church of Scientology and his dedication to the faith. In fact, a Tom Cruise Scientology video was released and posted on several websites if you would like to watch an interview with Cruise in which he discusses his feelings about Scientology in great detail. The video has seen some very turbulent times, however. It was removed from YouTube, Defamer, and Radar. Don’t worry; the Tom Cruise Scientology video is currently available for viewing at Gawker.com, which states that it has no intention of removing the video that has been deleted from many other websites.

Other Tom Cruise Scientology videos such as indoctrination videos were previously posted on sites such as Google Video and also on Gawker.com, but they were removed as well by whoever originally posted them. The current Tom Cruise Scientology video, hosted by Gawker.com and originally posted on YouTube is roughly 9 ½ minutes long. During the lengthy video, Tom Cruise discusses Scientology, and his strong views on the religion and life as the theme song from Mission Impossible plays in the background.

“That’s what drives me . . . is that I know that we have the opportunity, and uh, to really help for the first time . . . effectively change people’s lives

“ . . . I have to do something about it . . . you know you can sit here and wish that it was different, then you look at and go ok, alright, and then there’s that moment where you go, (laughs) you know, I have to do something don’t I .. yep I really have to do it because I can’t live with myself if I don’t . . . and its, that really is it
