Take a Boston Tea Party Cruise

Of all the Boston Harbor cruises, the Boston Tea Party Cruise offered by Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships might be the most unusual (although the Codzilla could plausibly hold this title as well). Part cruise and part history lesson, the Boston Tea Party Cruise allows its passengers to reenact one of the most storied moments in U.S. history in the actual place it took place, the Boston Harbor (or Boston Harbour, although it seems questionable to use the British spelling when talking about an episode that initiated a chain of events culminating in American independence from British rule). It’s a cruise worth trying if you are interested in American history and have kids to entertain, so below we provide an overview of the Boston Tea Party Cruise and explain how you can secure a ticket. • A Guide to Boston Harbor Cruises

A Guide to Boston Harbor Cruises

There are a number of different cruises you can take in the Boston Harbor (or Boston Harbour, as the British would have it). Probably the main provider (depending on what is meant by “main provider”) of these cruises is the appropriately named Boston Harbor Cruises, but a few other companies offer Boston Harbor cruises as well. Below we supply some information about the various Boston Harbor cruises available, linking to the various companies that offer them. Think of this as a guide to Boston Harbor cruises that will connect you with the appropriate cruise for you. Read more […]

    Boston Harbor Cruises, Linguistically Considered

A Boston Harbor cruise (or Boston Harbour cruise, for our British readers) is either a cruise offered by a company that is actually called “Boston Harbor Cruises” (or BHC), or it is any cruise that takes place in the Boston Harbor. Of course, the cruises offered by Boston Harbor Cruises are in fact cruises that take place in the Boston Harbor, but the point is that BHC does not have a monopoly on these short sailings in the harbor. There are also a number of regular cruises from Boston (i.e., multiple-day voyages offered by cruise lines), but these aren’t really Boston Harbor cruises for reasons we will outline below. Thus, there are Boston Harbor Cruises (with all capital letters) and Boston Harbor cruises (with one lowercase word), with the former being a subset of the latter, and there are also regular cruises from Boston that happen to depart from (where else?) the Boston Harbor. Understandably, you might not have followed all this, so below we explain what Boston Harbor cruises are in greater detail. Read more […]

The Port City of Los Angeles: Things to See and Do Before Leaving on a Cruise

There are thousands of cruises from California every year, and the Port of Los Angeles is the busiest port in the state (and indeed in the country), so it is one of the more likely ports you’ll pass through if you take cruise vacations. However, Los Angeles is obviously a city known for much more than its port, and there are many things to see and do in the city before or after your cruise. In fact, there is so much to do and see in Los Angeles that it is worth budgeting an extra day or so into your cruise vacation to take in the city. If you are able to do this, or even if you just have a few hours to kill, consider this guide of things to see and do before leaving on a cruise from Los Angeles. Read more […]
  • The Port of Jacksonville (JAXPORT): Things to See and Do Before Leaving on a Carnival Fascination Cruise

The Port of Jacksonville (JAXPORT): Things to See and Do Before Leaving on a Carnival Fascination Cruise

The Jacksonville Port, known as JAXPORT, is not a major cruise hub, especially relative to other Florida port cities (like Fort Lauderdale and Port Canaveral). Indeed, only a single cruise ship, the Carnival Fascination, operates out of the port, and this vessel essentially only travels to the Bahamas. However, the Carnival Fascination operates throughout the entire year, and by extension the Jacksonville Port manages cruises all year long, so tens of thousands of cruise vacationers pass through Jacksonville every year. If you happen to be one of these vacationers, here are some things to see and do before your cruise from Jacksonville departs. Read more […]
  • Crystal Cruise Dancers (Dance Hosts)

    Crystal Cruise Dancers (Dance Hosts)

Here’s another job to add to the “dream occupations” list, at least for a certain type of person: being an official dancer, or what is often called a “dance host,” on Crystal Cruises, the luxury cruise line. Basically, a Crystal Cruise dancer (or Crystal Cruise dance host – dancers are hosts and hosts are dancers) does nothing but dances with solo women or men all night on board ships that sail all over the world. For their dance services, the dancers are rewarded with free travel to exotic locations around the globe on a luxury cruise ship. Not a bad way to live, right? Read more […]
