    The Most Affordable Cruise Destinations

Traveling via cruise ship is actually one of the most affordable ways of seeing the world. Visiting a location on a cruise ship can often be cheaper than getting there by any other means, and ships also take care of your food and lodging. The price of your vacation, though, ultimately depends on where you want to go. There are some cruise destinations out there that are incredibly affordable.

The price it will cost to get somewhere on a cruise ship will also vary based on where you’re starting from, though. A cruise around Australia might be cheap for Australian citizens, but someone living in North America would need to pay a lot just to get to Australia in the first place. With that in mind, this article will go over the most affordable cruise destinations for people already located near the boarding port. In other words: airfare is not being heavily considered here.

The first areas that you should look at if you want a budget-friendly cruise are the Caribbean or the Bahamas. Cruise lines understand that these are the most popular cruise destinations – particularly for those new to cruises – so they always offer great rates. You can even find cruises to the Caribbean for around $100 round trip. If you combine that with some savvy shopping and deal hunting, you’ll basically be paying almost nothing. It is important to remember, though, that most of the cheapest Caribbean and Bahamas cruises are simply weekend getaways. That means you’ll really only get one day (or even a half day) actually on the beach.

Similar to the Caribbean, Mexico is also a very affordable cruise destination. These cruises tend to involve a lot of time on the ship rather than on the beach as well, but you can’t argue with the price. Many affordable Mexican itineraries depart from California rather than Florida, making them a great option if you’re closer to the West Coast of America.

If you’re not in the United States, you may want to take a look at itineraries headed towards Cyprus. The small island nation is beautiful, and cruises to and from Cyprus can often be found for around $200. That’s a great price. The most concise and cheap Cyprus cruises depart from Israel, so you’ll need to find a way to get there before your journey.

Finally, believe it or not, Alaskan cruises can generally be found around $300 round trip. Most depart from Seattle or Vancouver, making these itineraries convenient for anyone in the Pacific Northwest. And while Alaskan cruises get more expensive the longer your trip becomes, even the least costly are still pretty long. For instance, Carnival currently offers a six day itinerary to Juneau and Ketchikan for only $334. For the experience you get, that price is pretty unbelievable.

There are a lot of places in this beautiful world of ours that you can access from a cruise ship. Many of them don’t break the bank, either. If you’re looking for a vacation on a budget, any of these locations will be perfect.

  • Three Princess Itineraries Under $500

    Three Princess Itineraries Under $500

Princess Cruises is a cruise line known for affordable itineraries that don’t sacrifice quality. If you’re looking for a cruise under $500, Princess can hook you up! We’ve gone through their itinerary list and selected three that we think are great options. Whether you’re a cruise veteran or someone trying this type of travel out for the first time, there’s a cruise here for you.

4-Day Bahamas Private Island Getaway for $339

How could you not want to go on a vacation to a private island in the Bahamas? That’s the type of trip that travelers would pay top dollar for, but Princess offers it for only $339. This itinerary has multiple departure dates throughout this year and the next, but each cruise is more or less the same. Travelers board Regal Princess in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida before heading to Princess Cays in the Bahamas. They will then spend a full day of relaxation in the sun on the island before heading back to Florida. The only downside to this itinerary is that it only offers one day at the private island, but that’s about as much as you can get with a trip this short. All the details are available over here.

6-Day Western Caribbean with Mexico for $499

In general, it can be hard to find a trip of a decent length for under $500. This one starts at $499, so it just barely fits the bill, but the amount of adventure that you get for that price certainly makes it worth it. Much like the previous itinerary, this one departs from Ft. Lauderdale, though it only has one departure date on April 10th, 2022. Two of the days are at sea while the other days are spent at exotic locations. The cruise first ports at Roatan in Honduras before going to Belize and Mexico. Full details here.

    5-Day Alaska Sampler for $449

Alaskan cruises are perfect for people that have the spirit of adventure. While many Alaskan itineraries aren’t too expensive, this one is especially affordable. The only problem is that it isn’t a roundtrip. It begins in Seattle, Washington and then hits both Juneau and Ketchikan in Alaska before dropping travelers off in Vancouver, Canada. Still, being able to see that much of Alaska for such a low price is worth the extra that you will have to spend on airfare. You can view the entire itinerary on their website.

As with all Princess cruises, these itineraries can be made even cheaper if you book with a group of four and split the cost. We’ve always liked that about them. If none of these suit your fancy, head on over to the Princess site to browse more affordable getaways.

12-Night Africa: South Africa and Namibia Cruise from Norwegian, $1231

$100 a night is a pretty solid price no matter where you are cruising. But that’s certainly a deal when your itinerary is taking you to the amazing places that this one is! It begins from Cape Town, and that means that many travelers will need to shell out some extra money on a roundtrip to South Africa. Once you’re there, though, the excitement begins. You’ll traverse across the country of South Africa before heading to two different ports in Namibia. Along the way, you’ll get the chance to see wildlife and partake in the distinct culture that Africa has to offer. This itinerary takes place in both December 2021 and 2022. For the exact dates and prices, you can go here.

12-Night South Africa Intensive Voyage from Azamara, $2589

While this itinerary isn’t exactly cheap, it’s still far more affordable than many other African itineraries you may come across. It also takes a different path than many other economical African cruises. It begins in Cape Town like all others before going to East London in South Africa. It then heads all the way up to Mozambique before turning around and visiting a few new spots on the way back to Cape Town. Azamara also offers many great pre- and post-voyage excursions that you can book alongside your cruise. Oh, and Azamara is currently running a deal that allows the second guest to get 60% off their price. To check all of that out, head over to their website.

12-Night Cape Town to Cape Town from Oceania, $2999

If you’re looking for a more luxurious experience than some of the other affordable cruise lines can offer, Oceania is your best bet. Although their price is more than Norwegian’s and others’, this is a very nice deal for a cruise line that offers as much comfort and as many amenities as Oceania. This itinerary visits Walvis Bay in Namibia, the Cape of Good Hope, and multiple South African locations before concluding. All the information that you need is right here.

African cruises may not be the cheapest in the world, but there are still great deals to be found. If you’ve always dreamed of checking out the continent, book one of these cruises!

  • The Most Affordable Cruise Lines

    The Most Affordable Cruise Lines

Let’s face it: there are plenty of cruise lines out there that aren’t exactly affordable. Finding a cruise that actually fits into your budget can feel intimidating if you don’t know where to look. Many travelers have gotten interested in cruises, gone to Google, found a 3-month luxury cruise that costs more than a house, and just given up. If that’s your experience, don’t fret. There are actually several cruise lines out there that offer incredibly affordable options.

    Royal Caribbean

Royal has received plenty of accolades throughout the years, and it deserves all of that praise. They offer an immense variety of itineraries, and all of them are great options. They certainly have some cruises that are on the pricier end of things, but the large majority of their trips are perfect for travelers looking to avoid spending a lot of money. The key to finding the cheapest possible cruise with Royal is flexibility. If you aren’t too picky about where or when you’re going, you can find a cruise at an incredibly low rate. For instance, they currently have cruises on their site starting at about $200. Combine that with the deals that are regularly offered on their site and you can travel the world for next to nothing.

    Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity is a very nice option for those looking for a slightly more calmer experience than what can be found on Royal’s massive ships. The cheapest Celebrity cruises are typically a bit more expensive than the cheapest Royal Caribbean cruises, but you’ll get a slightly more luxurious experience for the extra money that you’ll be spending. And when we say extra money, we aren’t talking about a huge increase in price. You can typically find Caribbean cruises with Celebrity for around $300 or so. There are a lot of options in the $300-$600 range, so shop around for a bit. Celebrity also will occasionally offer great deals, so keep your eyes peeled.

    Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival is actually one of the most affordable cruise lines out there if you’re just looking at the base rate. Buyer beware, however: some amenities aboard their ships will cost you extra. But if you’re just looking for a cruise experience without a ton of add-ons, Carnival might be your cheapest route. Their current roster of itineraries boasts many options below $200 (yeah, you read that right). For instance, you can sail from Florida to the Caribbean on a 4-day cruise for just $189. Their cheapest option right now checks in at $149. Booking a short and affordable trip with Carnival can be a great way to dip your toes into the world of cruises if you’re not sure that you want to commit to spending more money.

These three cruise lines are reliable choices, but you should always be looking for sales, coupons, and deals if you want to find an affordable cruise. Speaking with a travel agent can also help a lot. Do some searching and you’re bound to find a dream vacation that’s within your budget.
