The Cruise Ships of MSC Cruises
As the fourth largest cruise line in the world, MSC Cruises is much like any other major cruise line. You can take an MSC Cruise to many parts of the world, and the cruise vacations the cruise line offers last anywhere from a couple of days to over two weeks. The on-board experience is filled with numerous dining and drinking opportunities, and there are plenty of places to relax, work out, and be entertained. This is what we covered in our last article about MSC Cruises. In that article we did not, however, cover the cruise ships that make up the MSC Cruises fleet. There are 12 cruise ships in the MSC fleet, and there is a new ship in the making, to be released next year. Below you will find a breakdown of the cruise ships of MSC Cruises. Read more […] -
The Titanic Cruise
That the massive Titanic boat (which, as we never fail to point out, is actually a “titanic boat” in two senses) collided with an iceberg in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, leading to the sinking of the Titanic and the deaths of over 1,500 people, is well known and much discussed. When people consider the Titanic, they tend to think of only the Titanic boat itself falling apart at sea and then sinking to the bottom of the ocean. This is the ship’s primary legacy. But it is important to keep in mind that the Titanic boat was a massive and luxurious cruise ship, not entirely unlike the cruise ships that exist today, and that got us thinking about what a Titanic cruise would have been like. How would, say, a Carnival cruise compare with a Titanic cruise? How similar is the Titanic cruise ship, if it even makes sense to call it the “Titanic cruise ship,” to modern-day cruise ships? Basically, would a Titanic cruise be comparable to a standard cruise vacation one might take today – if so, to what extent? – and did the Titanic boat have accommodations similar to cruise ships that are currently operating? The Two Cruise Ships Denied Access to a Port in Argentina
Two British cruise ships were turned away from an Argentine port earlier today, adding a new chapter to the sovereignty dispute between Argentina and Britain over the Falkland Islands. The two cruise ships – owned by Carnival, although they belong to the fleets of different cruise lines – attempted to dock at the port of Ushuaia, Argentina’s southernmost city, but were refused entry. The decision to bar the ships from the port was made early this morning by the governor of the Tierra del Fuego Province. Read more […] -
The Top Three Cruise Ships
Everyone wants to know about “the top X,” where “X” can refer to just about anything. We are ceaselessly searching for the top restaurants, the top hotels, the top movies, the top books, and so on. This perhaps explains our infatuation with lists that rank the relative greatness of different things. Presumably, this fixation applies to cruise ships as well, so we’ve compiled a list of the top three cruise ships. (We seem similarly preoccupied with finding the “biggest X,” and hence our article about the world’s largest cruise ship.) Read more […] -
The Best New Cruise Ship
Every year, new cruise ships take their inaugural voyage, and there is always a lot of discussion about these new ships as passengers experience them for the first time. This got us thinking: what is the best new cruise ship? As is always the case when you try to determine the best of anything, judgements will differ. The best cruise ship to one passenger will not necessarily be the best cruise ship to another passenger. Even so, we can’t resist a good “best of” article, and although people will inevitably disagree with our selection (which is itself based on what other people regard as the best cruise ship – more on this in a second), we’re still confident that whatever ship we pick will be a topnotch cruise ship.
