Every dedicated cruise traveler should make a point of educating themselves on the best underrated destinations out there. There are spots on this beautiful planet of ours that are as good (if not better) than the highly trafficked vacation spots that we all know about. Plus, there’s just something that feels really cool about going somewhere a bit unusual! We recently went over three underrated cruise destinations, and we’ve got three more for you to check out. All of these locations are worth a trip.
If you live in America, you’ve probably never heard of Jeju Island. It’s a well-known spot in Asia, but it’s still mostly unknown to the rest of the world. Trust us when we say that it’s known as a great vacation destination among Asian travelers for good reasons. Located directly off the southern coast of South Korea, Jeju Island will immediately appeal to most cruise lovers because of its beautiful beaches. But Jeju has plenty more to offer than just picturesque oceanside hangouts. Basalt cliffs around the island create mind-blowing rock formations, wildflowers bloom in explosive colors, and you can even walk through lava tubes. Jeju Island offers a wonderful mix of relaxation and adventure, making it an excellent cruise destination.
The Galapagos have been growing in popularity recently, but they are still underrated compared to what they have to offer. You’re probably familiar with the wonderful wildlife that lives in the Galapagos Island if you know a thing or two about Charles Darwin, and that’s still one of the major draws. It’s a bit more of an adventure to get to the Galapagos Islands than it is to get to, say, the Caribbean, but it’s worth it. Small vessels can help you get an intimate look at some of the most amazing animals that you can see on a cruise vacation.
Most people tend to think of cruise vacations as warm, relaxing excursions to tropical environments. Those are nice and all, but where’s the adventure in that? Russia has an endless list of underrated cruise locations to check out. Destinations like the Kamchatka Peninsula will offer you experiences that you’ll never forget. Much of Russia is relatively untouched compared to most other vacation spots in this world. If you want something a little different than normal, Russia should definitely be near the top of your list of cruise destinations.
Don’t get us wrong, we love a good Caribbean or Hawaiian cruise. But there’s a whole world out there to explore! Consider some of these underrated cruise destinations next time you’re planning a vacation on the seven seas.
