2022 is shaping up to be a big year for cruises. If you’re a thrifty traveler, you’re probably looking to find some deals. With the industry slowly inching its way back towards normality, it seems as good a time as ever to have a little refresher on the best ways to save money on cruises. Here are three methods that we have used to get the best prices on cruises possible.
Book with a travel agent
There are a lot of travelers out there that don’t use travel agents. We get where they’re coming from. Booking a cruise with an agent sounds like something that would be stressful and expensive. In reality, though, using an agent often allows you to get far better prices than you would normally be able to find. Agents work with cruise lines, and that means that they have access to discounted fares that we do not. Not only that, but agents can continually watch for price fluctuations and changes in the market to snag you an itinerary when it’s at the lowest price possible. Oh, and most travel agents will book you a cruise without charging any fees. If you’re not convinced after all of that, we’re not sure what to say.
Go in the off season
This is an obvious one, but it’s a trick that only a few people use. If you want to visit somewhere in this world of ours, it’s always cheaper to go when fewer people want to. If you don’t feel like booking a trip to Alaska in the winter, though, you can always look towards the months in between the popular and the unpopular season. That would mean an Alaskan cruise in April or a South American cruise in May. The temperatures are still good in the shoulder seasons, but the prices are lower because it’s not quite optimal.
Book in a group
One of the most reliable ways to get a good price on a cruise is to book in a group. Sure, cruising alone can be fun, but it’s almost always the most expensive option. If you can go with multiple family members or friends, your prices will be much lower. Not only will you be splitting all of the expenses with more people, but you’ll also be able to take advantage of the fact that multiple cruise lines offer group rates. Princess even has cheaper booking options for the third and fourth party members for each of their itineraries.
Booking a cruise is a great way to explore the world and start your 2022 off on the right food. Doing it affordably is just the icing on the cake!
