Want to Travel to the North Pole? Go With One of These Cruise Lines!

Do you want to travel to the North Pole? Here, we’ll answer that for you: of course you do! It may not be a realistic goal for everyone, but visiting the North Pole is one of the ultimate experiences you can have on this humble planet. It is one of the most remote and challenging spots to get to, making it an adventurer’s dream. There’s more to it than just bragging rights, though, as the landscapes and wildlife are unlike that anywhere else. Cruises are one of the coolest ways to travel to the North Pole (especially when the Polar Express isn’t running), and there are several different cruise lines that can take you there. Here are three excellent options.

Quark Expeditions

Quark Expeditions is one cruise line that is nearly synonymous with polar adventures. They’ve been doing it for a long time, and they’re definitely among the absolute best. With Quark, it’s not just a quick sailing to the pole to see it and then sail off. You really get to experience the North Pole on these expeditions, and you do it with style. We’re talking hot air balloon style. Yep, that’s right, a polar voyage with Quark Expeditions lets guests hop in a hot air balloon to gain a panoramic view of the ice caps and floes that make the North Pole so unique. Oh, and they have a helicopter too. Expect to pay a pretty penny, but hey, that’ll be the case with any cruise to the far north, really.

Poseidon Expeditions

Here’s another great option for the intrepid northern explorer. In 2021, Poseidon will be running three different expeditions up to the North Pole: one that departs on July 10th, one on July 21st, and one on August 1st (they all last 13 days). Each one starts at $29,445. One of the coolest things about Poseidon is that each trip includes a two-day stop at Franz Josef Island. You’ll definitely be thankful for the extra time there. They’re also known for the expertise of their crew, and you can expect excellent guidance and presentations from them. Oh, and they have a helicopter too. No biggie.

Polar Cruises

Remember when we said Quark Expeditions was almost synonymous with the polar regions of the world? Well, you can’t get much more synonymous than Polar Cruises! There’s not a whole lot that separates Polar from Poseidon, as they even use the same vessel (there’s not a whole lot of ships out there capable of reaching the North Pole). Still, they’re a really solid choice. They start at a slightly price than Poseidon, with their 2021 expeditions beginning at $31,995.

If you’re interested in going to the North Pole, booking a cruise with any of these three companies will more than fulfill your need for discovery!
