The Epic cruise ship is an alternative name for the Norwegian Epic, the largest cruise ship (at least until the Breakaway and Breakaway Plus are built) in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. Epic Cruise Ship
By “Epic cruise ship,” one of two things could be meant. First, when the phrase is spelled with all lowercase letters and is preceded by an indefinite article – “an epic cruise ship” – it only means any given cruise ship that might be described as “epic” (probably in the sense of “awesome” or “great,” not “of or relating to an epic poem”). However, “Epic cruise ship” might also refer to the Norwegian Epic, the largest cruise ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) fleet and at one point the third largest cruise ship in the world. Norwegian Cruise Line – It’s the Free Style Cruising Cruise Line, No Matter How You Spell It
We all know that the word “Norwegian” can be (relatively) hard to spell for those unfamiliar with it. Vowels are always difficult to keep track of, and “Norwegian” has plenty of them, making it hard to “sound out,” to resort to first-grade parlance. It is for this reason that one might question the wisdom of naming a cruise line “Norwegian Cruise Line.” The name is butchered all the time in the searches we get: “Norweigian Cruise Line,” “Norweigen Cruise Line,” and so on. The Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), formed in 1966 under the name Norwegian Caribbean Line, is a company that operates cruise ships that have an on-board policy of “Freestyle Cruising” (explained below).
