The Cruises
In July and October of 2016, Smithsonian Journey’s is offering two East Coast art-themed cruises on the American Star. The first cruise sets sail on July 29th and lasts until August 6th. It takes art lovers from Maine to Portland, with stops in beautiful Bar Harbor and Belfast.
The highlights of this art-themed cruise include a lecture by art expert Janice Simon, a walking/ bus tour of Acadia National Park, a walking tour of Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, and a visit to the Portland Museum of Art. Cruise fares for this adventure begin at $4,660 per person, which is based on double occupancy.
The next art cruise from Smithsonian Journey’s is a New York City-to-New York City voyage that takes place from October 14th to the 22. The journey brings travelers to Yonkers, West Point, Hyde Park, Catskill, Kingston, Troy, Albany, and Poughkeepsie. It includes visits to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, private tours through the Hudson Valley (guided by expert Jason LaFountain), and much, much more. Fares for this art-themed cruise start at $4,660 per person (based on double occupancy).
About the American Star
The American Star is a 100-passenger cruise vessel that made its maiden voyage in the summer of 2007. The ship includes many modern touches, such as flat-screen TVs with satellite and DVD players, and it typically sails on six, seven, and 14-night excursions to places along the East Coast (from Maine to Florida).
