How To Book a Singles Cruise
If you are single and want to take a cruise, you might consider taking a singles cruise. Only singles take them, so everyone on board is theoretically available, making singles cruises excellent for meeting other people without partners. This is, of course, the appeal of singles cruises to people who are single. But how do you book a singles cruise? Is booking a singles cruise different from booking any other sort of cruise? To answer these and similar questions, we wrote this article to explain the ins and outs of booking a singles cruise. Read more […] -
Singles Cruises: What are Some Examples of Singles Cruises?
There are lots of singles, and there are lots of cruises, so there are also lots of singles cruises. A singles cruise? What’s that? It’s a cruise for singles, or a single’s cruise, as we explained in a recent article about cruising for singles (pun intended). We have explained what singles cruises are (see previous link), written about where you can go on a singles cruise, and listed the cruise lines that offer singles cruises, but sometimes the best way to understand something is through example. So, in this article we offer a few examples of singles cruises. Read more […] -
Yoga Cruises
Yoga has become increasingly popular, as have cruise vacations, so it is not entirely surprising that there are now yoga cruises – i.e., cruises that prominently feature yoga as part of the on-board experience. Yoga cruises come in many forms, and the extent to which each of these cruises focuses on yoga varies. Some cruises are entirely about yoga, where the main point of the cruise vacation is to practice or learn about yoga. There are also health cruises that feature yoga, but not exclusively; these cruises are about health in general, and so are not, strictly speaking, yoga cruises, or at least they aren’t only yoga cruises. Finally, there are cruises that merely offer the opportunity to do yoga, and of course these aren’t only “yoga cruises” either. However, each of these types of cruises allows you to do yoga at sea, so they are worth considering if you are a fan of both yoga and cruises. Read more […] -
Cruises for Cancer Patients
We recently wrote about cruises for cancer, including a cancer cruise that sought to raise funding for cancer research, as well as a cancer cruise that united patients and survivors of breast cancer for a few days of fellowship. The latter cruise is a cruise for cancer patients (although this isn’t its exclusive focus), and we just unearthed another cruise for cancer patients, one that exists for the sole purpose of providing some relief to those who are suffering from or are otherwise affected by cancer. This cruise for cancer patients is offered through the non-profit Kick Cancer Overboard, which was created by the travel agency Excel Travel. It’s a very unique and generous program, so we wanted to explain this cruise for cancer patients and how it works. Read more […] -
Cancer Cruises
There are several different types of medical cruises, although they tend to fit into two categories: there are cruises that focus on medical education (generally in the form of conferences on board a cruise ship), and there are cruises that emphasize passenger health (by offering fitness classes, healthy meals, and so on). There are also cruises for specific medical conditions, like cancer. There are a few of these cruises for cancer. One of them, the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer, is about raising awareness and money for cancer research, and the other, the Breast Cancer Wellness Cruise, focuses more on uniting patients and survivors of this form of cancer. There are also “cancer cruises” that have nothing to do with cruise ships, like Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer, which is a motorcycle rally for cancer. However, we are only concerned with cruise ships that offer cruises for cancer, so we’ll focus on the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer and the Breast Cancer Wellness Cruise to give you an idea of what these cruise are all about. Health Cruises
A typical cruise vacation is generally not focused on health. Indeed, there is often a suspension of concern for one’s health on a cruise vacation, considering that excess (with respect to food, alcohol, etc.) is at the center of many people’s holiday at sea. But there are healthy cruises (or simply “health cruises”), by which we mean cruises that not only offer healthy cruise experiences (by offering, say, healthy meals), but also focus on increasing passenger health. A health cruise, then, is one that places a healthy passenger experience at its center, or at least it must make health a large component of the cruise vacation. A health cruise can’t merely make it possible to be healthy on board – health must be in many ways the point of the cruise. Read more […]
