Three Affordable (and Exciting) Alaskan Cruises

Every traveler dreams of one day going on an Alaskan cruise, but most write it off as something that just isn’t affordable. There are certainly luxurious (and expensive) itineraries out there, but there are also plenty that don’t break the bank. The 2021 Alaskan cruise season seems like it is happening after all, so there’s no better time than now to start checking out a few itineraries. Here are a few that we’ve selected that are fun, adventurous, and affordable!

7-Night Alaska Glacier Cruise from Royal Caribbean, $589

Royal Caribbean should be one of your go-to cruise lines when you’re looking to get a nice bang for your buck. This seven-night itinerary takes place in September 2022. It starts in Seattle, ends in Vancouver, and visits a number of exciting locations along the way. The fact that it begins in Seattle already drives down the total price for American travelers, as it’s far cheaper to fly to Washington than it is to fly to Canada. The first day at sea is a long one, but you’ll be treated to great views as you get closer to Alaska. Once there, you’ll stop at Juneau and then Skagway. The highlight of the trip is definitely an exciting day of sightseeing in the Endicott Arms and Dawes Glacier area. For a great price, you’ll be treated to the icy views you’ve been dreaming of.

4-Day Alaska Sampler from Princess, $339

This one may not give you as much time as some other Alaskan cruises, but it is arguably one of the cheapest ways to see this amazing part of the world. With cabins starting at $339, this four-day cruise in May 2022 takes you from Vancouver to Ketchikan before ending in Seattle. If you book with a group, guests three and four get their cabins for only $200! Ketchikan is a small community that is rooted in old school Alaskan tradition, and it’s a great place to get a taste for the state. The only issue with this itinerary is that you won’t end up spending as much time on land as some of the longer ones. Two of the four days are spent at sea. But hey, that doesn’t sound too bad when the area you’re cruising in is as pretty as this. You can check out the details on this one over here.

7-Day Alaskan Explorer from Holland America, $729

If you’re looking to take an Alaskan cruise this year rather than next year, this itinerary might be perfect. It takes place on the Nieuw Amsterdam from September 25th, 2021 to October 2nd, 2021. There are a few days of scenic cruising in beautiful locations such as Glacier Bay National Park, and you get to visit Juneau, Icy Strait Point, Sitka, and Ketchikan. This one is a bit more expensive than some of the most affordable options, but you get to spend more time off the boat and going to the places that excite you the most.

Visiting Alaska is a true adventure, and there’s no better way to do it than by cruise. With cruising slowly opening up again, Alaska is sure to become a hot destination, so hop on these deals while you still can!
