Three Affordable (and Fun) Cruises to Canada

Beautiful, historic buildings. Fine art and vibrant culture. Delicious food. No, we aren’t talking about a fancy European cruise. We’re talking about a cruise that hits amazing ports throughout Canada! Believe it or not, but itineraries that take you through the country are some of the best available. Mostly sailing from New York City, these cruises allow to visit some of the coolest places in North America. Here are three affordable itineraries that are just too good to pass up!

6-Night Canada and New England from Carnival, $479

With only two days out of six being spent at sea, this itinerary allows you to see a lot of amazing sights in a relatively short amount of time. You start in New York before arriving in Portland, Maine en route to Saint John in New Brunswick. You can go kayaking while there or spend some time exploring the amazing Hopewell Rocks area. You’ll visit Halifax, Nova Scotia after that, and then head back to New York to finish up the loop. If you’re interested in checking this one out in more detail, visit Carnival’s website here. It’s a great price, but prospective travelers should note that it doesn’t embark until September 2023, so you’ll have to be patient.

4-Night Canada Cruise from Royal Caribbean, $391

If you want to take a cruise to Canada, this is probably going to be one of the cheapest prices you can find. This itinerary takes place on Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas, and it departs on May 31st, 2022 from New Jersey. You can’t argue with the cost, but it comes with a downside: you don’t get to spend too much time at ports. You actually only visit one city: beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia. You can spend a full day there, but it will be sandwiched in between two full days of sailing. Still, it’s a great opportunity to see one of the coolest spots in Canada. You can read more here.

7-Night Canada and New England: Newport and Portland from Norwegian, $650

If the destinations of the first itinerary from Carnival appealed to you but you weren’t so sure about the 2023 departure date, check this one out. Embarking from New York in August 2022, this cruise from Norwegian visits Newport, Rhode Island and Portland and Bar Harbor, Maine before heading to Canada. It hits Saint John and Halifax just like the Carnival itinerary. You can see all the similarities and differences between this one and the Carnival one on Norwegian’s website.

There are lots of reasons to take a cruise to Canada. Any of these three itineraries are great choices for a cruise vacation that takes you away from the most heavily-trafficked areas!
